Vacancy: *Civil Engineer*, Tawila Dam Rehabilitation Project
The UNOPS Sudan office is based in El Fasher, North Darfur
seeks to recruit a Civil Engineer towork on an Integrated Water
Resources Management project wholly funded by USAID
(United States Agency for International Development) through the
DCERWSP program (Diminishing Conflict through Early Recovery
Water Supply Program)
The position will be based in El Fasher but will require frequent
visits to the Tawila dam project site near Tawila, North Darfur
Scope: The Tawila dam rehabilitation project will comprise
of investigation & design, construction and maintenance phases,
expected duration 2 years
Duties: assist with the planning, implementation and support to
topographic,geotechnical and environmental surveys undertaken by
UNOPS and sub-contractors
- General logistical support to field operations Assist with preparation
of Bills of Quantity, designs, drawings, specifications
- Monitoring of works quality, progress reports, measures, variations
- Close liaison with local community leaders and government departments
Requirements:
- University degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience (experience in water
harvesting and water resources development preferred)
- Conversant with MS Office, AutoCAD
- Working knowledge of spoken English language essential
- Sudan driving license
- Personal interest, commitment, flexibility and willingness
to work in a rural area
